Leagues Cup Soccer Take Tijuana +0.5 (-155) over Austin (9 p.m. EST, Thursday August 6) Tijuana is the much better side, and they have a great chance to win this outright, but we will pay the juice for the extra half goal in the case of a draw. Tijuana has shown they are a real force and a contender in Liga MX this season and they could go far in this tournament as Tijuana is hungry for some hardware and a ticket to the Champions Cup that goes to the top 3 teams in Leagues Cup from both MLS and Liga MX. They have the young phenom Gilberto Mora, who made a splash for Mexico in the World Cup and has teams from Europe clamoring for his services. They have other strong players as well. Through Matchday 3 in the Liga they are in second place and tied with mighty America from Mexico City on points and only behind by one goal on goal differential. We expect them to be competitive all season, and we think they will do great in Leagues Cup. Austin has been one of the worst sides in MLS this season and they are much worse than last season when they were at least competitive. They have given up two goals per match in the domestic league and have a -14 goal differential through 18 matches. Home pitch shouldn’t matter much here, and Austin has a dense Latin population, so some in attendance will definitely be pulling for the Xolos. We expect a strong showing from the road side here. |

4-Unit Play Take Calgary/Seattle UNDER 5.5 (8 p.m. EST, Sunday October 4) Seattle has looked very strong defensively thus far and they held this same Calgary team to one goal when these teams met in the opener and last night they held Edmonton in check for most of the game until a couple late goals in the last three minutes of the game, including an empty netter. Both teams come in on a back-to-back and will probably be lacking offensive energy and we just don't see how Calgary will break out for much scoring on offense as they have looked horrible in that department so far. On defense, they will likely make adjustments from the recent meeting and a fatigued Kraken team will have trouble matching their output from that game. Best of Luck - Doc's Sports |

8-Unit Play: Take #926 Milwaukee -135 over San Diego (4 p.m., Sunday, October 2, FS1) MLB PLAYOFF GAME OF THE YEAR The Brewers showed some rust on Saturday but still found a way to grind out a victory. I expect Milwaukee to build on that win and take a 2-0 lead in this series. Logan Henderson gets the ball after a strong season, finishing 11-3 with a 2.47 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP. I expect a big outing from him in front of the home crowd. San Diego counters with Michael King, who pitched well against the Cubs in the Wild Card round but struggled leading into that start. I look for Milwaukee to break through against him as this game progresses. The bullpens should play an important role, and Milwaukee’s relief staff can match San Diego’s. Home-field advantage gives the Brewers the edge in what could be another tight game. Milwaukee has shown it can win in a variety of ways, and I don’t expect the Padres to collect another nine hits in this one. Take Milwaukee. |

2 Unit Play. Take #272 San Francisco 49ers over Denver Broncos (4:25 p.m., Sunday, October 4, CBS) I’m backing San Francisco at home against a Denver team that has struggled with slow starts. Falling behind early could prove costly against the 49ers, especially with Brock Purdy coming off a four-touchdown performance against Arizona last week. San Francisco is also 5-0 against the spread in games immediately following an ATS loss. Denver benefited from some fortunate calls in last week’s win over Los Angeles, and I don’t expect those breaks to carry over on the road. Look for the 49ers to take control and get the job done at home. |

The Saints face the prospect of starting 1-3 overall and 0-2 at home, making this divisional matchup especially important. With two winnable home games ahead, they have an opportunity to get their season back on track. Atlanta beat Green Bay last week, but I’m still not sold on the Falcons with Penix at quarterback. The trends favor New Orleans: Atlanta is 0-10 against the spread in its last 10 games following a double-digit win, while the Saints are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss. If New Orleans intends to contend for the division and a playoff berth, it needs to protect its home field against a rival. Look for the Saints to bounce back Monday night. |
